We have a lovely flying field just off Packman Lane close to the junction with Thorpe Road, about a mile outside the village of Harthill, near Sheffield.
We are well away from houses and obstructions, however as we are only a couple of miles from Netherthorpe Airfield, we are in a flight restriction zone and therefore have to observe the CAA’s rules relating to it.
The field has recently been extended with the generous help of club members to provide a longer runway for take-offs and landings. The grass is also maintained regularly to provide a smooth surface.
Access to the field is via a gate that is padlocked and members will be given the padlock code to allow them to enter the field and park by the gate. There is space to allow approx 5 or 6 cars to be parked off-road just inside the gate.
